Fanta Japan

whysojapan fanta cans us ukFanta is a well known drink all over the world. Fanta is created by and belongs to the Coca-Cola company. Fanta is mostly known for its orange fizzy drink and by far orange is most probably the most popular of all the flavours, almost all over the world.

On my first trip to Tokyo a friend to me told me to look out for the Fanta drinks while I was there. He said there are a lot of different flavours that we dont have here in Sweden. All you have to do is pass one of the vending machines on any street corner and you will see a slection of Fanta cans and bottles that you might not have back home.

Of couse, you can find the typical Fanta drinks. But in Japan they like to try seasonal flavour. For example, one flavour was released in limited addition, it came out in spring and was called Fanta Ume, which is a sort of Japanese plum that grows in the early part of spring. Thats the plus of living in a country that has a lot of people. Its a lot easier for a company to make a product for a limited time and sell lots of them.

Fanta grape

whysojapan fanta japanOne of the Fanta that I first tasted in Japan was a can that was purple and it looked to have a grapes on the can, so we gave it a try. The first thing I thought it tasted like was like a sort of bubblegum flavour. I really liked it! I have also been able to try it back here in Sweden. I’ve been able to get hold of both the US and UK versions of Fanta grape, since there is no Swedish version of the soft drink. But nothing beats the Japanese version of the drink. I found out that Fanta grape is the only version of Fanta that is sold in a glass bottle. This I found out after buying one and adding a photo of it to Facebook and was informed by a Japanese friend about it.

Fanta has even tried some very different drinks, like one thats called Fanta Moo Moo White, which was a zero calorie drink with extra calcium. Its sort of a fizzy milky yogurt drink, very different.

Some of the new flavours that are available in Japan are grapefruit, peach and ume. Some of the other flavours that are and have been available are Honey Lemon, Melon Cream, Fruit Punch, Pineapple, Apple and more.

It is definitely worth looking out for the different Fanta while youre in Japan and giving a flavour that you might never heard of a try.
