The Kaiser Chiefs are a British indie rock band that as of present consists of Ricky Wilson, Andrew White, Simon Rix and Nick Baines. This song, Man On Mars, also has Nick Hodgson in the video, who has left the bad now. The band started in in Leeds 1996.
The video for the song Man On Mars was filmed while the band was visting Japan to play at the 2011 Fuji Rock Festival. The video shows different clips of around Tokyo
and some of their performance from the Fuji Rock Festival. The video also consists of some of the fans singing to their songs at a karaoke bar and the video also follows one of their fans on his trip from Tokyo to the gig at the Fuji Rock Festival.
One bit of the video to listen to is when the audio cuts out at the train station and you can hear the platform melody.
The video was first relased on to YouTube on August 11, 2011.
Intergalactic is a song by the American hip-hop group the Beastie Boys. The video was filmed mostly in Tokyo with scenes in both Shibuya and Shinjuku train stations. The video has a large robot that can be seen in the video, which is very Japanese. In the video the guys can be seen wearing street construction workers clothes that are called “koji” in Japanese. The video made is premier on may the 12th 1998.
The members of the band at the time of making of the video were Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, and Adam Yauch, who sadly past away last year.
There have been quite a few music videos filmed in Japan for some well know and some not well known international artists over the years. Over the next month or so I will post some of the videos that I’ve seen on the Internet. Some of the videos are songs that I like and some are songs that Ive never even heard of or seen before I started researching.
